The Buninyong Botanical Gardens are a popular venue for social gatherings and activities in the heart of Buninyong, less than 20 minutes’ drive from the centre of Ballarat. Facilities include playground equipment, electric barbecues and public toilets, while the upper garden area is home to many fish and waterbirds in the Gong.

Established in the 1860s and designed by the Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne Baron Ferdinand von Mueller, the Gardens are among the oldest in Victoria.
