We Are Here: An exhibition by Trans and Gender diverse artists

https://cms.visitballarat.com.au/app/uploads/2024/08/66bff7c81d619f440598b621.jpeg

We Are Here aims to create a space where trans and gender diverse artists can express themselves authentically and showcase their unique perspectives. Through various forms of art such as painting, photography, sculpture, and more, these artists share their stories, struggles, and triumphs with the world. By doing so, they challenge societal norms and stereotypes surrounding gender identity and promote a more inclusive and accepting society.

We Are Here invites viewers to open their hearts and minds to the experiences of others, fostering a more compassionate and inclusive society for all.

It is a powerful reminder that we are all here, deserving of respect, recognition, and celebration.

We Are Here is proudly presented by the City of Ballarat and it’s LGBTIQA+ Advisory Committee in partnership with TBH Studio as part of Trans Awareness Week.

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities.

These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years.

As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
